| | | | Producer, co-director | | | | Natural born story-teller, street hustler and self-invented man...David does things HIS way. This film is no different. All have opinons on Rogerson, be it for his firebrand skateboard company, Shitbird Skates, his wild one man tattoo shop, Ace Tattoo...his music..or just his tounge-in-cheek caustic nature. Teaming up with veteran editor/director Steven Nemsick, Rogerson sets-out to tell a fasinating tale. This particular piece involves a friend, Jason Jessee...whom Rogerson had a long-term correspondence before spending a couple of years around Jason's hotrod shop, Automodown in Watsonville, CA. Rogerson was quiried by Jessee one day why he was filming him....Rogerson simply replied..."Makin' a movie on ya, Jason...". Enter Nemsick. Two year hellride, dozens of superb interviews, international travel, and months in Nemsick's editing bay leave us with a painfully beautiful film. | | shitbird@jasonjesseemovie.com | | | | | Cinematographer, co-director | | | | Steve Nemsick a.k.a. Nemi, has been an editor for the past eight years, working in L.A., N.Y.C. and at home in San Francisco. After five years on staff with Mad River Post in L.A. and S.F. working on national commercials with A-list directors, Nemi went freelance to work on longer formats. Since then he's edited short films, feature length documentaries, music videos, corporate videos, promos, commercials, television, etc. In 2003, Nemi was ready to move into production and create his own documentaries. A loose lead brought him to a tattoo shop north of Berkeley where he met David Rogerson, who pitched him the idea of a documentary on skateboarder Jason Jessee. Fifteen minutes later a handshake to shake the world was made and production began three months later. "Even though this is our first film, I feel like we have an advantage. As an editor, I view our shoots based on how they'll play in the edit. I'm always thinking about the back-end, while Dave's unabashed enthusiasm and natural street hustler skills carry the project through production. It's really not fair to everyone else." "As long as we're true to our subject, the piece will be a hit. Jason's that interesting." | | steve@jasonjesseemovie.com | | | | | Distribution for Australia!!! +61 (0)411 055 511 | | | | dirk@jasonjesseemovie.com | | | | Jonathan Hay | Mark Frankel | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
